Crochet Society Box 41 – Melissa Watson

We caught up with Melissa Watson, one of the three fabulous designers from Box 41

Hi! What are you up to today?

Its a long weekend, so that means some family time. We have spent the afternoon going on a scenic dog walk.

What is your favourite type of project to crochet?

It has to be amigurumi, anything with a cute face, from animals to dolls.

Where’s your favourite place to crochet?

My footstool stores my most recent project, so the perfect spot for me is on my sofa, whilst watching mostly period dramas.

Which of your crochet projects are you proudest of?

I am most proud of my first published design and I’m thankful for the editor who took a chance on me.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced with your crochet?

Its a bit of a challenge trying to find space for all those balls of yarn that I just have to have (even with no project in mind). I will use them all one day.

What’s the best piece of crochet advice you’ve ever received?

Use a stitch marker. I can become quickly distracted with chatting or the TV and easily lose count. I have a little collection of cute stitch markers, but you can just use a scrap of yarn to easily mark your stitch.

Do you have any big crochet plans coming up?

I would love to have a crochet book published someday, full of really cute amigurumi. At the moment though, I will continue to bring the design ideas I have, to life.
