Crochet Society Box 41 – Sandy Jones

We caught up with Sandy Jones – one of the three fabulous designers from Box 41.

Hi! What are you up to today?

I have been crocheting of course. I am currently crocheting a bag.

What is your favourite type of project to crochet?

My favourite type of crochet project is any granny square project. I love making quick little squares and then putting them altogether to make something amazing. There is satisfaction every time I finish a square.

Where’s your favourite place to crochet?

I crochet on my sofa at home whilst watching a series on Netflix.

Which of your crochet projects are you proudest of?

My proudest project to date is a blanket I made my son when he was weeks old, it has his name on the front. It was the longest project I have worked on.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced with your crochet?

I think my biggest challenge is finishing all my WIPs.

What’s the best piece of crochet advice you’ve ever received?

Use stitch markers. You will definitely count fewer stitches by doing so. It’s easy to get distracted in the middle of a row or round. I also now have realised how important it is to read patterns notes, there is important information in there that your whole project working up right relies on. I never realised the importance of this until becoming a designer myself.

Do you have any big crochet plans coming up?

I am continuing to design some gorgeous patterns, so hopefully, you’ll see my face again soon.

Where can people find out more about you?

I use Instagram and Facebook to connect with fellow crocheters and to post photos of
the thing I create, so you will find me on both of those platforms.
