What is your favourite type of project to crochet?
My favourite things to crochet are amigurumi, shawls, baskets and blankets; which is a bit of a mixture – but I’d describe myself as a crochet-jack-of-all-trades as I like to give anything crocheted a go!
Which of your crochet projects are you proudest of?
The crochet projects I’m definitely proudest of are the crochet-alongs I have done, they usually take such a long time to make the design work, have it tested and then to see folks make their own versions – it provides an amazing sense of achievement! And I’m still sort of amazed when I see other people re-creating the design I’ve made.
What are your favourite yarns to work with and why?
I love all sorts of yarns; it’s too hard to choose a favourite (please don’t make me!). I love acrylics for the colour options and the wash ability, and cottons for the stitch definition, and I love making something really special with some glorious hand dyed yarn. I’m just a yarn addict (as my large yarn stash would tell)!
Tell us something unexpected about yourself!
I’m addicted to sewing shows like the Great British Sewing Bee and Project Runway even though I personally hate my own sewing machine!
Do you have any big crochet plans coming up this year?
Yes my latest free blanket crochet along is coming out this year called ‘Filet Fantastic’. From its first draft swatches in December 2018 to now it’s been a long project that I’ll be extremely happy to finally see released!
Where can people find out more about you?
I’m in most places you’d expect on the web; but the main place you can find what I’ve been up to is on my blog www.keepcalmandcrochetonuk.com and I’ve started hanging out a lot more on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/kcaco.uk/. The most comprehensive list of my patterns you can find on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/people/KCACO-UK though I also have a Deramores shop, and sell through LoveCrafts and Etsy too.
