Crochet Society Box 17 Designer: Katy Petersen

Find out more about the fabulous designers behind our Crochet Society boxes! Below we chat to Crochet Society Box 17 designer, Katy Petersen of @ktandthesquid

What inspired your design for this box?

Every Fall I look forward to warm and cozy drinks. I wanted my pattern to be as warm and cozy as that feeling.

What is your favourite type of project to crochet?

This is so hard because I tend to latch on to certain projects at different times. Right now I’m loving simple accessories like scarves, cowls and hats.

Which of your crochet projects are you proudest of?

My first one! In college I made the ugliest granny square blanket with whatever scrap yarn I could get my hands on. It’s poorly sewn and the ends are coming out but I love that thing!

The theme of this box is bonfire night. Bonfires are a great excuse for toasting marshmallows and brewing up some hot spiced apple juice – what’s your favourite bonfire treat?

I have many great memories eating s’mores around a fire.

What’s the best piece of crochet advice you’ve ever received?

Block your projects. This was a game changer when I was just starting! It makes such a big difference.

Where’s your favourite place to crochet?

I love to crochet in my living room with my family nearby.
