Techniques used dc dc2tog embroidery (cross stitch)

Yarn used Perfect Cotton DK - Rosy and Peachy 1 ball each in Peachy (A) & Rosy (B)

About the yarn DK; 245m per 100g ball; 50% cotton, 50% acrylic

Tension 10 sts x 11 rows = 5cm measured over dc Hook used 3.75mm

Other supplies ribbon, approximately 70cm long tapestry needle

Sizing 23x9cm

This pattern is worked vertically to create the mask shape. When cross stitching your hearts, use smaller sections of yarn to ensure the sts look neat. Chain one at the beginning of each row does not count as a st Special abbreviations dc2tog

Eye Mask

Make 1 in A for back panel & 1 in B for front panel

Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, dc across. Turn. 4 sts

Row 2: 1 ch (does not count as a st here and throughout), 2 dc in first st, 2 dc, 2 dc in last st. Turn. 6 sts

Row 3: 1 ch, 2 dc in first st, 4 dc, 2 dc in last st. Turn. 8 sts

Row 4: 1 ch, 2 dc in first st, 6 dc, 2 dc in last st. Turn. 10 sts

Row 5: 1 ch, 2 dc in first st, 8 dc, 2 dc in last st. Turn. 12 sts

Row 6: 1 ch, 11 dc, 2 dc in last st. Turn. 13 sts

Row 7: 1 ch, 2 dc in first st, dc to end. Turn. 14 sts

Row 8: 1 ch, 2 dc in first st, 12 dc, 2 dc in last st. Turn. 16 sts

Rows 9-17: 1 ch, dc across. Turn.

Row 18: 1 ch, 14 dc, 1 dc2tog. Turn. 15 sts

Row 19: 1 ch, 1 dc2tog, dc to end. Turn. 14 sts

Row 20: 1 ch, 12 dc, 1 dc2tog. Turn. 13 sts

Row 21: 1 ch, 1 dc2tog, dc to end. Turn. 12 sts

Rows 22-26: 1 ch, dc across. Turn.

Row 27: 1 ch, 2 dc in first st, 11 dc. Turn. 13 sts

Row 28: 1 ch, 12 dc, 2 dc in last st. Turn. 14 sts

Row 29: 1 ch, 2 dc in first st, 13 dc. Turn. 15 sts

Row 30: 1 ch, 14 dc, 2 dc in last st. Turn. 16 sts

Rows 31-39: 1 ch, dc across. Turn.

Row 40: 1 ch, 1 dc2tog, 12 dc, 1 dc2tog. Turn. 14 sts

Row 41: 1 ch, 1 dc2tog, 12 dc. Turn. 13 sts

Row 42: 1 ch, 11 dc, 1 dc2tog. Turn. 12 sts

Row 43: 1 ch, 1 dc2tog, 8 dc, 1 dc2tog. Turn. 10 sts

Row 44: 1 ch, 1 dc2tog, 6 dc, 1 dc2tog. Turn. 8 sts

Row 45: 1 ch, 1 dc2tog, 4 dc, 1 dc2tog. Turn. 6 sts

Row 46: 1 ch, 1 dc2tog, 2 dc, 1 dc2tog. Turn. Do not fasten off. 4 sts

Border

Rnd 1: Cont with same colour, 1 ch, dc evenly around entire edge of mask, working 1 dc into each post/row-edge. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Finishing With A and following colour chart, embroider hearts on front panel (colour B side) using cross stitch. Cut ribbon into two 35cm lengths, sew each length of ribbon to each outside edge on wrong side of back panel. Place both panels tog with right sides facing out, with A, dc through both thicknesses to join making sure to only work in front panel when working around the ribbon.
