Free Baby Slippers Crochet Pattern

This sweet pair of baby bootees is fit for any little princess, or why not change the colours used for your little prince? Designed by Val Pierce.

DK, 3.25-3.5mm

Yarn used Rico Baby Cotton Soft 1 ball in fuchsia 021 (MC) Rico Baby Ricorumi 1 ball each in cream 002 (CC1) & Pistachio 047 (CC2)

About the yarn Cotton Soft DK; 125m per 50g ball; 50% cotton, 50% acrylic Ricorumi DK; 57.5m per 25g ball; 100% cotton

Tension 20 sts = 10cm measured over dc

Hooks used 3.25mm, 3.5mm

Other supplies 2 pearl beads, 2 small heart buttons, 1 locking st marker

Sizing One size, Newborn Sole measures approximately 9cm

Half treble 2 together (htr2tog): [Yrh, insert hook in next st, yrh, pul] twice, yrh, draw through all 5 loops on hook

Slippers (make 2)

Sole

With MC and larger hook, chain 10.

Rnd 1: 2 htr in 2nd ch from hook, 7 htr, 6 htr in last ch, rotating as you go, work in the other side of the ch, 7 htr, 2 htr in last ch. Do not join, cont in a spiral. 24 sts

Rnd 2: <2 htr in next st> twice, 7 htr, <2 htr in next st> 6 times, 7 htr, <2 htr in next st> twice. Do not join, cont in a spiral. 34 sts

Rnd 3: 1 htr, <2 htr in next st> 3 times, 7 htr, <2 htr in next st, 1 htr> 6 times, 7 htr, <2 htr in next st> 3 times, 1 htr, sl st in next st to end spiral. Fasten off. 46 sts

Upper Rnd 1: Join MC with larger hook to centre back of sole, dc in BLO around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rnds 2-6: 1 ch (does not count as a st here and throughout), dc around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 7: 1 ch, 13 dc, 10 htr2tog, 13 dc, join with sl st to first dc. 36 sts

Rnd 8: 1 ch, 13 dc, 5 dc2tog, 10 dc, pm in last st, 3 dc, join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off. 31 sts

Strap for Left Slipper

With MC and smaller hook, chain 12.

Row 1: Insert hook in marked st of Upper, 8 dc along Upper, 13 ch. Turn. 33 sts

Row 2: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, 12 dc across ch, 8 dc, 12 dc across ch. Turn. 32 sts

Row 3: 1 ch, 2 dc, 1 ch, miss 1 st, 29 dc. Turn.

Row 4: 1 ch, 29 dc, 1 dc in 1ch-sp, 2 dc. Fasten off.

Strap for Right Slipper

Rows 1-2: As for Strap for left slipper.

Row 3: 1 ch, 29 dc, 1 ch, miss 1 st, 2 dc. Turn.

Row 4: 1 ch, 2 dc, 1 dc in 1ch-sp, 29 dc. Fasten off.

Roses (make 2)

With CC1 and smaller hook, chain 30.

Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, dc across. Turn. 29 sts

Row 2: 1 ch, 3 dc in each st across. Fasten off. 87 sts The piece will curl as you make it. Roll up into a rose shape, separate the petals a little and secure with a few stitches.

Leaves (make 4)

With CC2 and smaller hook, chain 4.

Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr, 1 tr, sl st in last ch. Fasten off.

Making up

Weave in all ends. Using photo as a guide, sew two Leaves onto underside of Rose. Sew Rose to centre of slipper toe. Stitch a pearl bead to centre of Rose. Sew button to strap on opposite side of button hole.
