Crochet Society Box 18 Designer: Emily Littlefair

Find out more about the fabulous designers behind our Crochet Society boxes! Below we chat to Crochet Society Box 18 designer, Emily Littlefair of @theloopystitch

Hi Emily! What are you up to today?

Today I’m working on my next book; writing up patterns that haven’t been done and playing around with I feel could be added.

The theme of this box is Season’s Sweetings. What are your favourite Christmas treats?

Oooh this question is proving harder than I thought lol!!! I just love all the food at Christmas! So I am going to go with that. Alllllll the food is my treat haha.

What are your hopes for Christmas this year?

To enjoy the company of our family around a big table full of food, fun and laughter!

Will you be making Christmas presents for friends and family?

Umm no! As much as I’d like to, I’m a little time poor when it comes to making things for others. I’d rather be designing new patterns – that’s not bad, is it?

What inspired your design for this box?

Stylecraft asked me to design using Highland Heathers and I didn’t hesitate at all!

What is your favourite type of project to crochet?

Designs made in the round 😀

Which of your crochet projects are you proudest of?

Definitely Connie’s Ray of Hope which raises awareness for breast and other cancers and Floral Dreams.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced with your crochet?

Managing my time! I would crochet all the time if I could, but due to other life commitments such as work, it’s hard to do. Also, I find designing for other people to be even harder than designing for myself. I put that extra added pressure on to make sure it’s perfect. Naughty self-doubt sneaks in there!

What’s the best piece of crochet advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t give up! Learn how to do standing/false stitches and invisible joins. You will thank me later lol.

Where’s your favourite place to crochet?

Anywhere where there is yarn and my hook! Honestly, when I am crocheting, I’m in my crochet-bubble, so I can do it anywhere.

Do you have any big crochet plans coming up?

Eventually my second book, another CAL and make-along.
