Crochet Society Box 25 – Brenda K Anderson

Hi! What are you up to today?

Just watching the snow fall, while crocheting on my couch and dreaming of summertime.
What inspired your design for this box? I was thinking about what it feels like to be young and free, bubblegum, and blowing giant bubbles that pop in your face.

This month we’re getting in a holiday mood – what’s your favourite poolside treat?

Pina coladas of course!

What is your favourite type of project to crochet?

I adore quick projects where I can experiment with a new technique- colorwork, cables, lace, etc.

Where’s your favourite place to crochet?

I take my crochet with me everywhere! I particularly love crocheting outside under a shady tree.

Which of your crochet projects are you proudest of?

I am particularly proud of my use of colorwork in the Pulmu Pullover. And the super-cuteness in my amigurumi projects.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced with your crochet?

My biggest challenge is figuring out how to have a balanced schedule. I am always chasing the next project while working on my current one, and I seldom take a break from crochet- I love it so much! But unfortunately this means my house needs a good cleaning!

What’s the best piece of crochet advice you’ve ever received?

To block a project when it is done. Honestly I don’t know why it took me so long to realize that it actually does make a difference! I avoided blocking my projects for years thinking it was unnecessary, but now I am a convert!

It’s been a difficult year for many of us – what would you say to any crocheters out there who are having a hard time?

This has been such an isolated time for many of us. We are all need of some human interaction. If you are working on a project, post photos of it on social media and talk about it, or just send a pic to a friend and say “hey- look at what I’m doing!” . You may be a spark of inspiration to someone else, or at the very least you will begin a conversation.

Do you have any big crochet plans coming up?

I do! I am working on two large-scale crochet projects, but they are top-secret for now. I am working on quite a few smaller projects as well that will be released in a steady stream over the next year. I’m always cooking up something involving yarn!

Where can people find out more about you?

I’ve finally started a blog to share my crafty adventures over at craftsplosion.com
