Hook used 6mm

Tension 2 shells x 4 rows = 10cm measured over shell st in pattern

Sizing 186x28cm

Chain 40.

Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook (missed ch counts as st), dc across. Turn. 40 sts

Row 2: 3 ch (counts as tr now and throughout), 1 tr in next st, *miss 2 sts, shell, miss 2 sts, 1 dc, 5 ch, miss 3, 1 dc; rep from * twice more, miss 2, shell, miss 2, 2 tr. Turn. 4 shell sts

Row 3: 3 ch, 1 tr in next st, 3 ch, 1 dc in middle of next shell, *5 ch, 1 dc in 5ch-sp, 5 ch, 1 dc in middle of next shell; rep from * twice more, 3 ch, 2 tr. Turn.

Row 4: 3 ch, 1 tr in next st, 1 ch, 1 dc in next 3ch-sp, *5 ch, 1 dc in next 5ch-sp, shell in next st, 1 dc in next 5ch-sp; rep from * twice more, 5 ch, 1 dc in next 3ch-sp, 1 ch, 2 tr. Turn. 3 shell sts

Row 116: 1 ch (counts as dc), 1 dc, 3 dc in next 3ch-sp, 1 dc in next st, *4 dc in next 5ch-sp, 1 dc in next st; rep from * 6 more times, 3 dc in next 3ch-sp, 2 dc. Do not turn. 40 sts Continue to Edging.

Edging

Rnd 1: 2 dc in same st as end of Row 116 (corner made), rotate piece to work along long edge of scarf, *work 2 dc around every post of tr and 3 ch of row edge to last row, 3 dc in corner st, rotate piece, 38 dc along short edge of scarf, 3 dc in last st, rotate piece; rep from * once more, sl st to next st. Fasten off. 

Finishing 

Weave in all ends and gently steam block to relax and open up stitches.
