The day has finally come, it's time to open drawer number one of your Crochet Society Advent Calendar! We hope you are excited to be crocheting along with over 1950 crocheters. We want to see your progress so please share pics on Instagram using the tag #crochetsocietyadventcalendar

| Tension (please fill this in, even for toys) | 17 sts x 18 rows = 10cm measured over dc using larger hook. To ensure that you don’t run out of yarn, it is important that your tension swatch is not larger than this – adjust your hook size if necessary. |

| Hints and tips | From day 5 onwards you may find it helpful to place a marker in the first and last sts of each row To make the edging easier to work, don’t weave in ends (except the magic rings) until the blanket is complete. |

Pattern notes The blanket is constructed from the centre out, starting with hexagon motifs made over days 1 to 4.
Day 1 – Snowflakes (make 7)
Special abbreviation Cluster (cl) – [Yrh, insert hook in indicated st or sp, yrh, pul, yrh, draw through 2 loops] twice in same st or sp, yrh, draw through all 3 loops on hook.
Snowflakes are worked in the rnd, with RS facing you throughout.
Rnd 1: With larger hook and working into a magic ring, 2 ch, 1 tr (counts as first cl), [3 ch, 1 cl] 5 times, 3 ch, join with sl st to beg tr. 6 sts
Rnd 2: 1 ch (does not count as st), *5 dc into 3ch-sp, 1 ch, miss cl; rep from * 5 times more, join with sl st to beg dc. 30 sts
Rnd 3: Miss st with joining sl st, *1 dc, 5 ch, [1 dc, 9 ch, 1 dc] in next st, 5 ch, 1 dc, 1 sl st in next st, 1 RhtrF around cl in Rnd 1, 1 sl st in next st; rep from * 5 times more, working final sl st in sl st from end of Rnd 2. Fasten off. Pull magic ring tight and weave in end to secure. 30 sts Snowflake measures approx. 11cm from point to point.
