The UK has a long and wonderful history when it comes to wool – way back in the middle-ages it was what our wealth as a nation was built on, and wearing finely-spun British wool was a mark of status. Today there are still a few mills that keep the tradition alive, including West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS). It is a family business, where every member of the team has a real passion for creating beautiful yarn that crocheters and knitters love to work with. All of its yarn is spun and dyed in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
The yarn I chose for this box is Bo Peep Luxury Baby DK, which is a blend of super-soft wool and nylon that creates a wonderful yarn that is perfect for sensitive skin. This yarn is machine washable, making it a great choice for all sorts of projects from baby garments to toys and homewares. This yarn is available in more than 30 shades including a variety of bright and bold, as well as soft pastel solids, plus 10 variegated shades that are perfect for adding a bit of texture to your knits.
If you enjoy working with this yarn as much as I do, and if you have little ones to crochet for, you really should take a look at WYS’s latest pattern book Great Adventures.
With this special collection, you can crochet a playmate for your little ones – the adorable Bo Bear. There’s also a wardrobe of matching clothes and cool accessories for both child and bear to wear together. The patterns are all designed by Emma Varnam and there are some really fantastic designs to choose from.
