Crochet Society Advent CAL 2020
Want to join in with the Crochet Society Advent crochet-along (CAL) but don’t have a calendar? Here’s everything you need to know!
The pattern uses a standard kind of yarn, and we’ll be posting the daily instructions here on the website for free, so everyone can join in. Make sure you’re signed up to our newsletter for notifications!
It’s pretty hard to give you the details in a totally spoiler-free way, so read on with caution.
You will need DK yarn, at least 1600m in total. Why not pick up our Stay Crafty bundle which comes complete with 8 gorgeous shades of super soft yarn?
This must be split into at least two colours, and you’ll alternate from one colour to the next each day. If you use more than two colours, we recommend splitting the shades into “light” and “bright” and alternating between those two colour groups, so that you have enough contrast between each day’s section and the next. The Stay Crafty bundle would be perfect for this.
A great way to choose yarn would be to pick your colours in pairs, for example:
King Cole Comfort DK, 1 ball each in
Crush & Coral
Admiral & Eau de Nil
Rose & Pale Pink
Jade & Apple
Golden & Sand
Mineral & White
This would also look lovely if half of the project was in a neutral shade, and the other half was in various contrasting shades. For example:
Stylecraft Special DK
4 balls in White
1 ball each in Turquoise, Magenta, Saffron and Aspen
For a more tonal feel – try:
West Yorkshire Spinners ColourLab DK
4 balls in Silver Grey
1 ball each in True Blue, Aqua Green, Deep Teal, Harbour Blue
We hope you can join us! Remember you can keep up to date with all the latest from Crochet Society by following us on Instagram and Facebook.

Will this still be available after Christmas? I’ve only just joined having seen other people’s work. I love the unusual pattern, but I have so many project on the go just now I can’t start this yet.

Hi will I need extra yarn if I use my stay crafty bundle which is 8x100g?
Also if anyone else is using this what combinations are you using please?

I’m using the stay at home bundle. I’m waiting for day 20 and still have a small ball of each color and a full skein I’m using for the border.
