Box 33 Designer – Elisa Oldman

Hi! What are you up to today?

Today, I’m heading out on a day trip with the husband and woofy on a steam train through the lovely Kent countryside; it’s our first trip out since lockdown and I can’t wait to get out and explore. Of course, I’ve lined up a special crochet project for the car journey 😉

What is your favourite type of project to crochet?

Mosaic or tapestry crochet projects.

Where’s your favourite place to Crochet?

I love snuggling up under a warm blanket at the end of the day with my crochet, normally fighting for elbow room with a sleeping puppy!

Which of your crochet projects are you proudest of?

I try not to have favourites, but I’m proudest of my first CAL hosted in early 2021 called ‘Peacock Delight’. It was a mosaic crochet project based on a star shape and peacock feather design.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced with your crochet?

It’s a challenge to fit in crochet design around everything else in life sometimes, but always a comfort to come back to when I can find those few special minutes to pick up my hook again.

What’s the best piece of crochet advice you’ve ever received?

Experiment with crochet hook sizes to get the exact tension you need for the pattern you’re working, once you’ve found your hook, don’t change it mid-project!

The theme of this months box is Books & Spells, if you could cast any spell what would it be?

Time travel – no more need for frogging when you can cast a spell and go back in time to before your made that silly crochet mistake 😊

Do you have any big crochet plans coming up?

Mandala’s have been on my mind for most of 2021 and I’ve been up all hours tweaking a new design based on mosaic crochet in the round.
