Back
Row 1 (Foundation Row): With 4mm hook and C, 175 fhtr. Fasten off C. Turn.
Row 2: With A, join with sl st in first st, 1 ch, *miss 2 sts, 5 tr (shell made) in next st, miss next 2 sts, 1 dc; rep * across. Turn. 29 motif reps
Row 3: Sl st in first 3 sts, 1 dc, *miss 2 tr, 5 tr in next dc, miss 2 tr, 1 dc; rep from * across to top of last shell, leave remaining sts unworked. Turn. 28 motif reps
Row 4: 3 ch (counts as first tr), 4 tr in first dc, *miss 2 tr, 1 dc, miss 2 tr, 5 tr in next dc; rep from * across. Fasten off A. Turn. 29 motif reps
Row 5: With B, join with sl st in 3rd tr, 1 ch, dc in same st, *miss next 2 tr, 5 tr in next dc, miss next 2 tr, dc in next tr; rep from * across, finishing with dc in top of last shell, leave remaining sts unworked. 28 motif reps
Row 6: Sl st in first 3 sts, 1 dc, *miss 2 tr, 5 tr in next dc, miss 2 tr, 1 dc; rep from * across to top of last shell, leave remaining sts unworked. Turn. 27 motif reps
Row 7: 3 ch (counts as first tr), 4 tr in first dc, *miss 2 tr, 1 dc, miss 2 tr, 5 tr in next dc; rep from * across. Fasten off current color. 28 motif reps
Row 8: Join next color with sl st in 3rd tr, 1 ch, dc in same st, *miss next 2 tr, 5 tr in next dc, miss next 2 tr, dc in next tr; rep from * across, finishing with dc in top of last shell, leave remaining sts unworked. 27 motif reps
Repeat rows 6-8 for pattern, reducing 1 motif after a 3-row repeat and changing colour sequence as follows. For any 5 rows in one color, fasten off previous colours and join new colours as established, not necessarily on a rep of rows 6 or 8.

Shoulders
Row 1: At one end of Foundation Row, on opposite side with RS facing, join B with a sl st, 2 ch, htr in same st and in each st across, changing to A in last yrh and pull through in last st. Turn.
Row 2: 2 ch (does not count as first st), htr in same st and in each st across, changing to C in last st. Turn.
Row 3: Rep Row 2 with no color change.
Row 4: 2 ch, htr in same st, 69 htr, miss 37 sts, 37 fhtr (creates neck opening), htr across, changing to A in last st. Turn.
Row 5: Rep Row 2, changing to B in last st. Turn.
Row 6: Rep Row 2, changing to A in last st. Turn.
Row 7: Rep Row 2, changing to C in last st. Turn.
Front
Rep rows 2-55 as for Back.
Finishing
Cowl Neck
Rnd 1: Join C with sl st to one side of neck opening, 2 ch (does not count as st), htr in same st 73 htr evenly around, sl st to first st.
Rnd 2: Join in another strand of Oyster and holding 2 strands tog, htr in FLO in each stitch around.
Rnds 3-4: Continuing in a spiral fashion, htr in FLO of each st around.
Rnd 5: With 6mm hook and continuing in an amigurumi style (in spirals without joining each round and without turning), htr in FLO around. Then, Rep Rnd 5 until Cowl measures approximately 9cm.
**Increase Rnd: 2 htr in FLO in next st, place marker in 2nd st just made, htr in FLO across half of sts, 2 htr in FLO in next st, htr in FLO across 2nd half of sts. 76 sts Work htr in FLO rnds even, moving st marker up to corresponding st for 5cm. Then, Rep from ** until there are 82 sts. Work 1 more htr in FLO rnd ending at point above shoulder. Sl st in next 2 sts. Fasten off and cut yarn.
Edging
Join Oyster in any bottom corner of poncho.
Rnd 1: Evenly work dc around entire edge of poncho, join with sl st in first dc.
Rnd 2: 2 ch, htr in each dc around. Fasten off and cut yarn.
Weave in ends.
