Introducing Maddie!

Welcome to the first edition of our newest blog series, ‘Maddie Makes’, where we will be joining 15-year-old Maddie on her crochet journey.

Maddie has recently been in hospital, so to keep busy she’s been spending her time crafting. We’re giving her this space to talk about how she’s finding crochet, what she’s learned so far and most importantly, to show off her fabulous makes!

This week Maddie has created the adorable Snoopy and Woodstock from our Peanuts crochet book. Read about her experience below!

I never expected to be sat in my own hospital room, but if you've ever had to, you'll know that it's always best to try and occupy your time doing something you enjoy.

I taught myself to crochet through online videos and hadn't crocheted for a while, but when my dad’s mate sent me a Peanuts crochet book I figured 'why not?'!

Since then, I've made Snoopy, Woodstock, and most of the other characters from the show.

I loved making Snoopy and Woodstock, because of how cute and detailed they are. The patterns were so simple to follow and with how quickly they came together, it made the whole experience so satisfying!

My goal for the future is to write my own patterns, so getting experience with all patterns is really useful!

The only thing I would change from my experience would be the hook size I used, if I made them again, I would use a bigger hook. This is because I always like to minimize the gaps in my projects, but by using a 2mm hook I think I made it too tight because it became harder to sew and insert my hook into the stitches.

Other than that, my experience was a 10/10!

If you missed out on our official Peanuts pattern book, we've just made it available as a downloadable PDF!
