Crochet Society Box 24 – Sue Strange

sue strangeHi! What are you up to today?

I’ll be going out for a walk in the sunshine. I’m lucky enough to live on the Pennine Way in North Yorkshire so there are plenty of lovely walks nearby.

What is your favourite type of project to crochet?

I love making rectangular waps with intricate borders.

Where’s your favourite place to crochet?

In the evenings in front of the TV, or out in the sunshine on my garden bench.

Which of your crochet projects are you proudest of?

A wrap inspired by the Rialto bridge in Venice.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced with your crochet?

Learning to follow charts!

What’s the best piece of crochet advice you’ve ever received?

Swap between projects to avoid hurting your hands, so if I’m working with cotton I alternate with a wool project, for example.

Do you have any big crochet plans coming up?

I’ve just started designing a tapestry bag in 4 ply cotton with a 2mm hook so that will take some time

Where can people find out more about you?

Most of my makes are on my Instagram page @rosedale_ studio_ design

I crocheted right away after leaving hospital four years ago. I had a stroke. But I could remember to do crochet and that certainly helped me. I am wearing a waitcoat that I made in February and I am now making my Up North Cardigan.

This really helps me. And after three and a half years, I am now going back to cross stitching.

    These are such pleasuravle activities!
