      Hi Janet,

I saw your comment and can completely relate. I have MDD and bipolar amongst many others; but I just recently started therapy again and even though I wasn’t feeling well, I wanted to go back to the hobbies I loved and one of them was crocheting. It was hard at first, but doing crochet really does help with mindfulness and slows your mind down to only focus on the stitches. I used to paint, but even painting stresses me out. Crocheting is the only thing that I actually find stress relief in (besides my dog) and it really works. I hope this finds you well and that everything is better since you last posted.

Sometimes you just need to give yourself a break and then return to it.

having learned to crochet as a young child while on holiday I got to a stage when I was busy with life and put my hooks down ….. then in 2015 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and for quite a while could not concentrate on so many things apart from adult crochet books but in recent times I have found I can now take up my hooks and crochet have now taken the place of my new adult colouring books ……. I love to take a pattern and put my own spin on it <3

I never knew how to crochet. My mother in law tried to teach, my girlfriend she also tried to teach me but one day my mother bought me a book on how to crochet. In those days I was only in my early 20’s. But moving to live in the country side I joined a crochet class , since then I have won many prizes for my work.

I’m new to crochet but enjoy learning the new “stitches”
At the moment I’m knitting little pinafore dresses for my young granddaughters but intend to pick up my hooks, starting with box 1 which is waiting patiently along side boxes 2, 3 and 4!!

I am chronically ill and in chronic pain. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and several other auto-immune diseases. Crocheting helps me relax and feel productive. My hands hurt when I start just like waking up and getting out of bed hurts, but once you get moving, the pain is not as bad. Your hands and body loosen up. My days are not perfect. Crocheting is the first thing that has actually been fulfilling since I was forced to quit working. This last summer has been an especially bad one, but I take pride in getting out of bed and accomplishing something even if it is only making my bed.

Hi. I loved this Infographic. I am doing a Crochet beginner’s workshop next month in New Delhi, India. May I use this as a poster in my workshop? I will give credits of course, as is mentioned in the infographic itself.
