Yarn Used Cygnet Little Ones DK 2 balls in white (MC) 1 ball each in Very Apricot (CC1), Easy Pink (CC2), Tropic (CC3), Mint (CC4) & Zesty Lemon (CC5)

About the yarn DK; 66m per 25g ball;100% acrylic

Tension 18 sts x 11 rows = 10x10cm over st patt

Hook used 4mm

Size 63x15cm

Hints & Tips

  • This version of the larksfoot stitch is made up of trebles, chains and the spike stitch.
  • Fasten off after each colour change.
  • When changing colour, twist the new colour around the previous one to catch it in place.

Special Abbreviations

Spike treble: Yrh, insert hook into 1ch-sp 2 rows below, yrh, enclosing chs of previous row - pull up a loop to height of current row, [yrh, draw through 2 loops on hook] twice

With D, chain 114.

Row 1 (RS): Starting in 2nd ch from hook, dc across. Turn. 113 sts

Row 2: 3 ch (counts as first tr here and throughout), 2 tr, 1 ch, miss 1 st, <3 tr, 1 ch, miss 1 st> 27 times, 1 tr. Turn.

Row 3: 3 ch, <1 ch, miss next 1ch-sp, 3 tr> 28 times, changing to B on last yrh of last tr. Turn.

Row 4: 4 ch (counts as first tr and first 1 ch), miss next st, 1 tr, 1 spike tr, <1 tr, 1 ch, miss 1 st, 1 tr, 1 spike tr> 27 times, 1 tr. Turn.

Row 5: 3 ch, 2 tr, 1 ch, miss next 1ch-sp, <3 tr, 1 ch, miss next 1ch-sp> 27 times, 1 tr whilst changing to A on last yrh. Turn.

Row 6: 3 ch, <1 spike tr, 1 tr, 1 ch, miss 1 st, 1 tr> 28 times. Turn.

Row 7: As Row 2, changing to E on last yrh of last tr.

Rows 8-17: Rep rows 4-7 twice then rows 4-5 once more, changing colour at the end of each RS (odd) row in the following sequence, beg with the end-of-row colour change at Row 9: C, A, F and D. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Finishing Fold cowl, bringing short ends tog and whipstitch short ends tog.
