When did you learn to crochet, and how did that turn into designing your own patterns?

I learned to crochet about 8 years ago from watching youtube tutorials and getting lots of crochet books, this soon became an obsession. I tried a few amigurumi patterns but they weren’t what I wanted so I ended up just making up my own. Friends started asking me to make them whatever I had created so I started writing down how I did them and it all just got a bit crazy from then on.

What is your favourite thing to make?

My favourite thing to make is definitely cute animals. I also really enjoy making jumpers/cardigans, blankets etc but they are just for fun, I can’t really picture myself designing garments.

Which colours do you love working with?

My go to colours are always pastels when making amigurumi, although I much prefer darker autumnal colours for garments.

Which other designers do you admire?

Oh so many fantastic designers!! I love Erinna’s work (littleaquagirl) she makes the cutest animals. I also love dianapatskun and Sasha.koffer on instagram but there really are too many to name them all.

How many WIPs do you have?

Haha!! errr, I think I have about 6 WIP’s at the moment, I really do try to not have too many otherwise I start stressing over them!

Where is your favourite place to crochet?

My favourite place to crochet has to be my big, cosy, spinny cuddle chair which I have in my bay window.

Who do you like to make crochet gifts for?

I really love to make crochet baby gifts. Blankets, cardigans, booties and of course toys.

What piece of advice would you give to a new crocheter?

Whenever I teach people to crochet the best advice I can give is to practice, learning something new takes time and we were all beginners once… you’ll soon be hiding all your yarn in every spare corner!

What are your crochet plans for the rest of the year?

I have a quite a few collections all getting released later in the year, keep your eyes peeled for an epic ricorumi Christmas 😉

Where can people find out more about you?

I’m mostly active on instagram @kornflake_stew where I post daily stories of whatever I’m working on, this is where you’ll find sneaky peeks first. I also have an Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/KornflakeStew and a Lovecrafts shop where you can purchase patterns.
